Global Wellness Day Is Back For Its 10th Year

Global Wellness Day

Mark your calendars and prepare to be zen. Global Wellness Day is back on June 12th with events held in 170 countries across the globe.

Celebrating its 10th year, Global Wellness Day aims to connect citizens of the world through a free 12-hour livestreamed event that will be run in tandem with COVID safe in person events and complimentary wellness offerings.

Belgin Aksoy, the Istanbul-based Founder of Global Wellness Day, said, “In a world where 1 in 10 people live with a mental health disorder, necessary steps to protect our minds and soul must be taken. Young people are more vulnerable than adults; according to a study, those aged 16 to 24 are the group most likely to report feeling lonely, especially those who are shy and introverted, and COVID-19 has only exacerbated the situation. Never has Global Wellness Day’s message of One Day Can Change Your Whole Life been more meaningful.”

An impressive line-up of 65 speakers and GWD ambassadors will lead sessions including dance classes, workouts and yoga to meditation, spirituality, and mental health. Some standouts include:

Said Taghmaoui; UK’s Youth Mental Health Ambassador within the Department for Education

Dr. Alex George; Humanitarian, Spiritual Leader & an Ambassador of Peace

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar who will lead the global meditation session; Award-Winning Cinematographer, Director and Producer of Moving Art, which airs its third season on Netflix

Louie Schwartzberg; 99-year-old philanthropist, co-Founder of Rancho la Puerta and the “Godmother of Wellness”

Deborah Szekely; Headmaster of Shaolin Temple Europe

Closer to home, GWD Ambassador for New Zealand, Ana Crawford, is excited to bring her passion for wellbeing to a wider global audience for another year.

“Whilst a large majority of my experience is in the luxury sector, my passion lies in really making wellness accessible to everyone with the ultimate goal of shining a light on the importance of wellness both in New Zealand and abroad,” shares Ana.

“With thousands of incredible events happening across the globe there really is something for everyone. I truly believe that this day has the power to change your life.

“Even if you find one thing that makes you feel good or happy just for that moment, it has the potential to become a habit or interest and that in itself is the power of the day.”

Some key events from around the globe include:
