The newest Bodhi J Wellness Spa is pure Perth perfection, delivering a mecca for holistic therapies amidst leafy urban surrounds. Ashleigh Sharman discovers.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a resort spa experience but there is something closer to the heart, more community minded about a spa nestled in the suburbs. And this is exactly the feeling Bodhi J exudes in its recently-opened Pier Street location.
Already an established Perth success story, the Bodhi J Spa Group has built on its reputation as a health and beauty spa opening its second premises, spanning 440sqm, in May 2015.
“We had been looking for a location to create a Bodhi J Wellness Spa for some time and discovered this amazing property on Pier Street,” co-founder Danny Taylor explains.
“Fifteen months later we’ve realised our vision of opening Perth’s premier holistic wellness spa; inviting our guests to walk through our doors and leave the pressures of the real world behind them.”
Spacious, luxurious, like a big warm hug, the former home brimming with character features Bodhi J’s signature neutral colour palette and instantly relaxes — so much so you forget you entered via the street and feel at once at-home in Bali-inspired surrounds.
A premium in our industry, space is a true luxury and one that Bodhi J has capitalised on. From its sun-drenched courtyard, the perfect spot to host groups with champagne and fruit platters, to its open reception and post-treatment waiting area, dedicated pedicure and manicure lounge, sauna and yoga space, the client journey and treatment room locations flow with a marvellous sense of calm.
This most certainly owing to co-founder Tania Taylor whose passion for wellness is present in the very philosophy of Bodhi J: A holistic approach to health and beauty, healing and supporting the mind, body and soul from the inside out.
The natural and organic focused treatment menu offers face and body experiences from Australian brands Sodashi and Li’tya, supported by Eco Tan, Zoya, Byron Bay Tea, Inika, Badger Balm and Savi Organics with Reiki, sound healing and Chakra Balancing services also available.
“We are dedicated to providing only the highest quality, luxurious, natural and holistic treatments in a beautiful space, to all our guests to truly relax and find inner peace,” Tanya explains.
“Whilst in out care, our guests are out world. Our goal is to strive to surpass any previous spa experience — every single time.”
With its founding location on Grantham Street, Wembley (now eight years old), bursting at the seams with bookings, Pier Street suits loyal clientele who work or live closer to the city centre and better services Perth’s booming tourism industry — especially travellers in search of a massage and eager to learn of local skincare brand, Sodashi based in North Fremantle.
And although only six months old, the local community has rallied around Bodhi J thanks to its popular yoga program, not only forming part of the spa’s wellness philosophy but supports a healthy lifestyle and promotes client and staff wellbeing.
Staff are indeed happy here, the smiles and energy vibration don’t lie and it is clear they are at one with their founders’ beliefs and have a true passion for the brands they work with.
‘Duty makes us do things well but love us makes us do them beautifully,’ Bodhi J’s mantra states.
Deeply connected to its own philosophy, there is love and intention, a caring and nurturing force at work here. It’s wellness in action and clients can’t get enough of it.
