Spa Sanctuary: Revive Urban Health Retreat

Spa and wellness join the mix at Atmosphere Health & Fitness complex’s Revive Urban Health Retreat. Discovers Ashleigh Sharman.

If you build it, they will come. This is the intention behind the recently opened Atmosphere Health & Fitness complex in Sydney’s burgeoning western suburb of Penrith.

Armed with gym, specialist training areas, aquatic centre, Olympic sized indoor swimming pool, day care centre, nutrition station and health retreat, the complex offers a one-stop fitness and health experience for stressed singles and busy families.

The aim is to foster a community that wants to feel good as much as it looks good, even more so – and it is exactly this balance of intention that its owners feel needs to be rectified in our modern approach to health, wellness at fitness which so much focuses on the external alone.

Revive STORY 2The complex is designed to be inspiring, motivating and fun, and built to encourage a social community of like-minded people — all who require a space to relax, recharge and revive.

Revive Urban Health Retreat is headed up by Samantha Oraya, founder of Jorja James Day Spa in neighbouring Emu Plains.

Samantha can only be described as overflowing with love and her big heart is the mother hen to her young, but diligent and enthusiastic team of beauty therapists who offer a full-menu of face and body treatments alongside holistic health and wellness services including osteopathy with industry expert Doug Evans, nutrition, acupuncture and reflexology.

Add-ons such as a traditional or infrared sauna, Reiki and Chakra balancing services ensure that weather clients are results-driven or spiritually inclined there are treatments for their every need.

“At Revive we believe all journey’s should be individual, just like our clients,” explains Samantha.

“They should be customised to what the client needs or wants at that particular moment rather than an inflexible pre-determined package and so we offer guests a holistic approach with focus on total wellbeing.”

Revive STORYAlongside a range of complementary therapies for the body, mind, soul and skin, guests also have access to Atmosphere’s Health & Fitness Club on the day of their treatment including use of the heated indoor pool, gym equipment and classes such as yoga.

Featuring Pure Fiji and Skinstitut product ranges, the cocoon-like feel of the spa encourages guests to relax, unwind and indeed forget that they are in an industrial park not far from Penrith station.

The energy flow, décor and lighting have been carefully considered, as has layout with the functional space designed to be multi-use — adaptable for the flexibility of a new business model. However what Revive achieves best is its place as an ultimate escape from the outside world and whatever it is that your life contains therein.

Revive STORY 3“You need to look after yourself, to be able to look after everyone else,” Samantha says, “And we will continue to evolve as the demand for fully natural health care services increase.”

“It’s about teaching people to self-care and to let go. Everyone who comes to the complex is already taking a step to looking after themselves. We need to continue to build that community, to foster a healthy mind and healthy body first, be an example and then take care of others.”
