As an aesthetics, medi or wellness professional, you spend your days making other people look and feel the best they can.
Now SPA+CLINIC is giving you the opportunity to get some of that TLC for yourself with a luxury medispa and lifestyle retreat stay in beautiful Legian, Bali!
The winner and a guest will receive treatments of choice at international award-winning Cocoon Medical Spa, founded by Australian Louise Cogan.
They will stay for four nights at the five-star Nuala Retreats, renowned for high quality detox and fitness programs – not to mention idyllic accommodation and setting.
Cocoon’s magnificent premises (exterior pictured at top), high standards of medical training and world-class technology combined with holistic wellness – all under Australian management – make it one of a kind.
Exactly 12 months after it opened in May 2013, Cocoon won a prestigious honour from the World Luxury Spa Awards as the Best Medical Spa in Asia, and is now Bali’s largest cosmetic and wellness centre. It is a calm, relaxing 1000sqm space with “pods in a cocoon” concept.
Cocoon meets a growing trend for holidaymakers to simultaneously embark on a program of anti-ageing and self-enhancement aesthetic treatments.
“Our whole focus is on creating the best visible results for the client in a serene Balinese setting,” says Louise, from Melbourne.
“Today our clients are from Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the UK, US, Russia and France.
“We get about 80 percent women and they are normally in Bali around five to seven days on holiday with family or friends.
“One of the key benefits of coming to Cocoon is that the client can have a lot of treatments to achieve a much better overall result that lasts longer,” Louise says.
“Treatments are up to 80 percent less than if a client had them in their home country. They are the same quality but much more affordable.
“We do mostly packages – for instance, the Naked Skin Package, the 3D Rejuvenation or Fat Blasting. We specifically design our packages so they can be done in the short tourist time frame.
“And because our treatments are so cost-effective clients will have more of them.”
New to the Cocoon menu is the 360° Facial; “Facelift without a scalpel”. Based on one of the most popular non-surgical technologies on the market – Ulthera – High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) lifts and tightens deep into the facial muscles.
It is combined with super-rich Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and LED red light therapies for increasing collagen and hydration in the skin.
The added touches to customer service include free pick-ups from and drop-offs at Nuala, complimentary facial masks and free healthy snacks while clients are waiting.
Louise’s business strategy was to start with high investment in training and superior technology.
All registered doctors and nurses have been trained by Australian and British doctors to bring the level of their skills, techniques and communication to international standards.
“But the key point of difference from any other cosmetic clinic is the holistic approach – combining wellness treatments with the cosmetic<” she says.
“This makes cosmetic results more effective and last longer. True anti-ageing is about looking after the body and mind, ridding the toxic waste and aligning the hormones and health through vitamins.”
Treatments available include anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, chemical peels, laser, permanent hair reduction, fat and cellulite reduction/body contouring, no-needle mesotherapy, diamond microdermabrasion, PRP, Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) and other skin rejuvenation treatments.
These are on the same menu as detox, colon hydrotherapy, infrared sauna, a salt room and vitamin IVs to cleanse and balance the inner body.
Massage is available at Cocoon (free to those having cosmetic treatments) but not standard beauty treatments.
“Cocoon Medical Spa is a new spa concept but in a relatively short time we have had an amazing response, with more than 80 percent of clients returning or referring their friends,” Louise says.
The partnership Cocoon Medical Spa forged last year with Nuala Retreats is a natural fit, according to Louise, “as Nuala hosts high quality, detox and fitness retreats, and Cocoon offers the quality medical detox and aesthetic treatments.”
The folk at Nuala Retreats tell SPA+CLINIC: “At Nuala we think of ourselves as much more than a health retreat.
“Taking part in one of our retreats is an all-encompassing experience based upon the personal philosophies of our founder, who has spent a lifetime understanding how to create the perfect synergy between nurturing each guest and creating a restorative space for the mind, body and soul to rejuvenate and flourish.
“Through our stunning range of holistic practices and relaxation treatments, especially personalised to complement the Nuala Philosophy, guests will gradually shed the stresses and anxieties of everyday existence and find their inner light.
“Each of our programs is individually crafted to suit the healing that guests need to return to a state of inner peace, through the improvement of all aspects of the mind and body.
“Every aspect of your the is hosted by hand-selected practitioners who share the Nuala Philosophy.
“Our yoga practitioners, holistic health experts and life coaches will guide guests on a journey through the joys and benefits of all these ancient and beneficial tools to manage stress and navigate their way through modern life with ease and balance.
“We combine the serious business of finding balance in life with the equally serious business of pampering, through relaxing spa treatments and a delicious menu, using only the freshest organic produce sourced locally in Bali and internationally, prepared by guests’ own private chef.
“There are professionals dedicated to assisting guests to reach their weight loss goals; an expert nutrition team ensures they are provided with the vitamins, minerals and nutrition their bodies need while fasting.”
When the winner and guest are not being “overhauled” at Cocoon and Nuala, there are sights to see, and shopping, eating and more chilling out to be done.
“Legian is next to Seminyak, which is the trendy tourist hub of Bali, where the best restaurants, cafes, and nightclubs and shopping are,” says Louise.
“It’s a very eclectic area, full of colours and personalities. It’s very close to the coast, where you can combine great food, drinks and the beach at famous clubs like Double Six, Ku de ta and Potato Head.”
