Would You Create An App For Your Clinic?

With people becoming busier and busier, why not make it easier than ever to book in for some R&R?

Dr Clara Hurst has a long list of accolades to her name, now of which she can add app developer. Her clinic, Blanc Skin Clinic, recently launched a bespoke app to streamline their client experience, and the process of creating this tech to sit alongside your business is more straightforward than you’d think, says Dr Hurst.

“It was a lot of fun. The app is a product of our new online store which we built this year in response to COVID. When we closed in March, we thought ‘we have to pivot and innovate to serve our clients even though they can’t make it into the clinic for a treatment’,” Dr Hurst said.

Blanc Skin Clinic worked closely with Apple, its app developer and graphic designer to create the one-stop-shop where clients can book appointments, shop products and read their blog.

“We just wanted to make the whole experience for our clients as smooth as possible. We are conscious that we are living in such a digital age where everyone wants everything in one spot. People are busy. They don’t have time to sit on the phone and book in for an appointment,” she said.

Another motivation behind the app was to free up time in the clinic, which has expanded to include two additional treatment rooms this year. Staff are no longer chained to the front desk between appointments to field phone calls from clients wanting to book in.

“We want to make sure that every single person who walks through our door feels cared for and that we have taken as much time as possible to look after their needs. Our therapists can guide them through skincare choices, product selection and rebooking the next appointment post-treatment instead of constantly answering the phone,” she adds.

And it’s worked. Dr Hurst says the feedback on the app has been outstanding among her clients with a 50/50 split using the app and website to book in.

“We were aware of creating a good user experience for everyone who downloaded it as there are so many apps out there. The biggest question for us was ‘is this going to make someone’s life easier,’ and we are confident it does,” Dr Hurst finishes.
