ASCD Inspires On ‘Emerging Trends In Cosmetic Dermatology’ With One-Day Educational Symposium

Another successful educational event with both international and local guest speakers.

The Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists (ASCD) have kept to their demand this year for education, with numerous events covering all aspects of cosmetic dermatology. This exciting initiative for a single day event showcased areas that often are neglected in or need more attention than they receive in mainstream conferences.

SPA+CLINIC’s Taneesa Williamson caught up with Professor Greg Goodman AM (Scientific Governor and ASCD President) following the educational event for a recap of what key topics were discussed.

Greg: “Approximately 150 delegates descended on Melbourne for a single day ASCD event on November 13, termed as the Emerging Trends in Cosmetic Dermatology. It was an in-depth evidence-based look into 5 areas of Dermatology that deserve more attention than they normally would occupy in our main conference.

These key areas of interest were:

  1. Light therapy concentrating on light emitting diodes (LED)
  2. Laser assisted drug delivery
  3. Chemical peels and their laser equivalents
  4. Scarring
  5. Superficial and biostimulatory fillers and microbotulinum toxin

We heard from a great collection of overseas speakers – Dr Woffles Wu, Dr Yana Yutskovskaya, Dr Jaishree Sharad, Dr Ofir Artzi and Dr Firas Al-Niaimi. We also were privileged to have such a rich local faculty speaking on these topics including John Sullivan, Sarah Hannam, Katherine Armour and Katy Wallace. It was really a wonderful event.”

“The ASCD wishes to thank delegates who attended the event and are thrilled to announce our plans to hold another ETCD in 2023.”

Prof Greg Goodman
