Medik8 Strengthens Its Sustainability Commitment

How the cosmeceutical skincare line has proposed to be more sustainable within the upcoming years.

Medik8’s overall sustainability objective is to reduce its product’s footprint so consumers never have to choose between results, experience and impact on the planet. For this very reason, the skincare brand has updated its sustainability strategy which is underpinned by a clear vision, strong principles and a solid, 4-pillar framework which includes:

Climate Action

Reduce carbon emissions across the value chain, in line with science.

Stand out targets include:

  • Carbon Neutral by 2022, and thereafter.
  • 50% reduction of carbon emission intensity by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2040.

Waste Reduction

Reduce the material impact of packaging, manufacturing & operations. Stand out targets include:

  • 100% packaging to be reusable, refillable or recyclable by 2026.
  • 25% reduction in factory water usage by 2024.
  • Zero Waste to Landfill by 2025.

Ethical Business

Always ensure the best for colleagues, suppliers, customers, animals & the planet. Stand out targets include:

  • Supplier sustainability programme in place by 2023.
  • 100% sourcing from responsible suppliers by 2024.
  • 100% traceable & responsibly-sourced natural raw materials by 2030.

Social Investment

Have further impact on the above 3 pillars through direct social investment. Stand out targets include:

  • Select a long-term charitable partner by end of 2022

Among many other impressive achievements, the brand is already Carbon Neutral certified and uses 100% renewable energy to power its offices, manufacturing and distribution centres. In 2019, Medik8 also converted all professional bottles to 100% PCR, with cartons made from responsibly-sourced paper (FSC-certified).

‘’Medik8’s commitment to sustainability has always been part of who we are. But our updated strategy is taking our efforts to the next level, both in terms of ambition and of positive impact we want to have on the world around us. It’s not an easy task and we don’t have all the answers, but we are very excited for the journey ahead.’’
