Chiva-Som Is Opening The Middle East’s Largest Wellness Resort

Zulal Wellness Resort will be the first of its kind to showcase traditional Arabic medicine.

Luxury wellness destination pioneer Chiva-Som is set to open the Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som in Qatar on March 29, 2022. The full-immersion wellness resort will be the first of its kind in Qatar and the largest wellness tourism destination in the Middle East.

Set against the backdrop of desert sands and crystal blue waters of coastal Khasooma, the desert oasis will focus on Traditional Arabic & Islamic Medicine, Zulal Wellness Resort and encompass wellness services for families at Zulal Discovery, as well as an exclusive adults-only resort for guests above the age of 16 at Zulal Serenity. The resort will be managed by Chiva-Som, a globally acclaimed pioneer in wellness and lifestyle transformation with 26 years’ experience honed at its flagship resort in Hua Hin, Thailand, and has been brought to life by Qatar’s premier master developers, Msheireb Properties.

“We are delighted to announce the opening of this project, on which we’ve been collaborating with Msheireb Properties,” says Krip Rojanastien, Chairman and CEO of Chiva-Som International Health Resort. “This is the first time we have embarked on a management and operating contract since the opening of our resort in Hua Hin in 1995. We are excited and proud to have created something completely new with Zulal Wellness Resort, which is the first in the world to showcase Traditional Arabic Integrative Medicine (TAIM), whilst retaining the Chiva-Som DNA at every touchpoint. The ability to serve families in particular offers guests great flexibility, and we hope it will inspire wellness for a new generation.”

In its contemporary form, TAIM taps into evidence-based traditional wellness practices to create a new range of treatments and programmes with an emphasis on restoring life balance through herbal medicines, spiritual therapies, dietary and mind-body practices. The Zulal wellness experience is built upon six pillars of wellness: nutrition, fitness, spa, physiotherapy, holistic health and aesthetics. TAIM is infused throughout each, together restoring body, mind and spirit to optimum health in a sustainable manner.

“We look forward to welcoming guests to such a unique experience in the Middle East,” says Daniele Vastolo, General Manager of Zulal Wellness Resort. “While rooted in tradition, Zulal Wellness Resort is thoroughly modern in its results-oriented wellness offering, and we cater to guests’ needs with a beautiful setting, expert consultants, and recognition of the holistic connection between body, mind and spirit.”

Zulal Serenity is setting a new standard for luxury wellness tourism, with 60 rooms and suites, tailored programs according to each guest’s individual health needs, and extensive wellness facilities including a Himalayan salt room, thermal and hydrotherapy suites, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa suites, a well-equipped gymnasium, exercise studios, a state-of-the-art physiotherapy studio and an aesthetics centre.

Whilst still luxury-minded, Zulal Discovery caters more to family wellness experiences, with facilities designed by child and family specialists to bring families together. Younger children will be treated to nature-based outings, arts and crafts, whilst older children will be entertained with kayaking, dancing and personal training. Balancing physical, mental and emotional elements of wellness, the family wellness resort will act as an introduction to meditation and healthy cuisines.

The entire resort will enforce a digital-detox policy in public areas, encouraging guests to fully disconnect from the outside world and naturally refocus their energies throughout their stay.
