BEAUTY&SPA Insiders Brings Industry Together At Sold Out Event

An inspirational B2B event filled with networking, business growth strategies and the latest industry trends from like-minded industry experts.

With a jam-packed day of panels and presentations, the BEAUTY&SPA Insiders event provided insightful advice from leading industry business owners, educational experts, medical professionals and therapists at Hinchcliff House in Sydney on Monday.

150 industry salon, spa and clinic professionals joined together for the unmissable event, with Vida Glow supplying their signature ingestible beauty refreshments for attendees upon arrival. SPA+CLINIC Managing Editor Nadine Dilong, who hosted the midday panel discussion “Aesthetic Devices I Can’t Live Without” welcomed attendees and handed over the morning kick-off with keynote speaker Dr Yumiko Kadota, who shared her powerful insight into impactful topics within the predominately male-led industry of the public health system, and how she overcame sexism and burnout within the industry.

“Sometimes due to the beauty industry, people can treat you like a shop, rather than a medical professional. We must recognise this and aim to change this.”

A large topic of discussion amongst business owners and industry professionals in the morning sessions was the importance of a strong consultation, and during the panel “Perfecting Your Consultations To Gain A Returning Client“, Michelle Reeve (Waterlily Australasia), Melissa Young (Melissa Young Beauty) and Vita Catanzariti (Dolce Vita Skin) all provided their amassed years of knowledge to educate on how perfecting your consultation skills and adding a point of difference can amplify your client retention.

MC Sarah Hudson

MC Host Sarah Hudson (Skin By Sarah Hudson) also shared her insight, with superior experience gained from her own journey in business that she shared to the audience. Key takeaways from the panel discussion were the client experience, the role of ambience and language, and also the importance gaining trust of clients before providing the services recommended.

There was then a transition from the treatment room to operations of business, with key discussions from Suzie Hoitink from HTNK Consulting on how to effectively structure your business plan, and ways to “Work Smarter, Not Harder”. Following on from this, leading salon software company Timely hosted Gry Tømte (HÜD and The Purpose + Profit Concept) to discuss the true definition of leadership, and how to “Lead With Purpose”.

Following a mingling and networking morning tea, attendees were spoilt with advice on choosing the best device for their business, with the main panel of “Aesthetic Devices I Can’t Live Without” hosting Dr Liz Golez (Lift Aesthetics Sydney), Sanja Maria (Face By SM), Dr Natasha Cook (Cosmetic & Laser Dermatologist), Dee Diaz (Body WRL), and Sarah Hughes (Mediclinic Training Manager, International Dermal Institute), moderated by SPA+CLINIC Managing Editor, Nadine Dilong.

What turned out to be an audience favourite at BEAUTY&SPA Insiders, was the final panel of the morning sessions with the focus on “Oral Microbiome and the Relation To Skin Health” hosted by Dr Martina Lavery (Martina Dental and Aesthetics) and Lauren Dewsbury (Senior Research Scientist, Vida Glow).

The afternoon sessions saw Professional Beauty host a range of salon experts, including makeup artists, skincare formulators, and software brands, such as Podium, who opened attendees eyes to the power of text marketing. The remainder of the day consisted of food, refreshments, treatment and product demonstrations, and networking opportunities, including an end-of-event drinks to socialise and celebrate the day that was.

We thank our sponsors, attendees, industry guests and hosts on making this event possible.
