Meet The Founder of Cosmeceutical Solutions, Bringing 30 Years of Experience To Skincare Distribution

How Kylie Turkkan went from in-field experience to founding a next-generation distribution company providing clinic-customised treatment protocols and skincare solutions.

Cosmeceutical Solutions is a newly launched innovative distribution company founded by skin & beauty industry expert, Kylie Turkkan. With over 30 years of industry experience, Kylie has seen the industry evolve first-hand, enabling her to identify a gap in the market that Cosmeceutical Solutions is here to fill – providing customised treatment protocols based on the individual clinic structure, needs and personnel.

Cosmeceutical Solutions is founded on a commitment to provide exciting new cosmeceutical brands based on science, technology and the latest active ingredients with a customised approach. The company deeply analyses the needs of the clinic based on its existing resources ranging from equipment, personnel, clientele and individual goals to develop tailored treatment protocols to specifically suit the clinic’s needs.

Kylie’s experience started from humble beginnings at skincare counters, progressing to skin clinics to perfect her skills as a Beauty Therapist and finally taking her career behind the scenes to become an established and well-respected Business Development Manager and Trainer. Kylie’s long-standing experience & expertise provides the passion behind Cosmeceutical Solutions to provide essential support and dedication, identifying what clinics need so they can excel to the next level.

We caught up with Kylie to learn more about her career to date, and what inspired her to take the plunge with starting Cosmeceutical Solutions.

Kylie, share with us your journey throughout your career thus far?

I have worked in the industry for 32 years, and to date, I have had the time of my life! My journey began when my mum insisted I study Health Science after I finished high school. I never wanted to be a Beauty Therapist (I actually wanted to be a Ballet Dancer), however, it took 6 months into my diploma before I realised – I had an underlying passion for skin!

I started my career working in a beauty salon on the Mornington Peninsula down in Victoria. My main job in between clients was to recycle the hot wax and clean the wax pots (yep, that actually happened back in the day!) I ventured from beauty salons into department stores, where I eventually worked for Clarins.

I loved working for Clarins, so much so that I ended up saying goodbye to Australia and continued my career in London where I expanded my skills as a beauty therapist. Back in Melbourne a few years later, I worked as a skin therapist for an amazing woman in Brighton, Kathleen Crabtree, may she Rest In Peace.

Kathleen’s guidance and education was flawless. Kathleen taught me everything I know about skin, and it drove my passion even harder. I went to every training event, seminar, workshop and launch that I could in order to learn everything there was to know about the industry, skin and how to become the best beauty therapist I could. It was Kathleen who taught me the difference between a good beauty therapist and a well-educated one. I watched everything she did, listened to every word she said and took any criticism she had as positive.

This leads me to the more recent years of my career. My close friend and long-standing colleague, Joanna Karpinski, introduced me to Catherine Biedermann (Founder of Advanced Cosmeceuticals), who was the next influential woman in my life. Catherine became my inspiration, a very dear friend and a part of my family.

Catherine’s resilience, compassion, determination, intelligence and kindness inspired me to be, well, just like her! Just like I did with Kathleen, I watched everything Catherine did, listened to every word she said, absorbed all that I needed to know to build on the career I had made for myself. Catherine encouraged me to be the best I could be, she taught me the business side of the world, helped me to build on the skills I already had and never ever did she doubt my ability to make the right decisions. I can only wish that one day I will be admired by others the way Catherine is admired by people in the industry.

What inspired you to start Cosmeceutical Solutions?

It’s actually not what, but who.

In 2022, I decided to leave the company I was with, as I felt the direction the new owners were moving towards wasn’t the right fit for me (after 12 years), but I actually hadn’t decided what to do next.  It was my husband who suggested that perhaps it was time to go out on my own.

Kylie: “Our unique point of difference is that we actually create customised solutions that work for the clinic’s individual needs so they can achieve their desired success”

As that seed grew in my mind, I realised it was actually a great idea. The thought of looking for a new brand to introduce to the industry was exciting! A brand that I wasn’t just selling because I needed a job, a brand that I could sell from the heart. I count myself extremely lucky because I came across not one, but two brands that I knew would have a place within Australian clinics and would begin to grow quite quickly. Products that were affordable, results driven, filled a few ‘gaps’, had the latest active ingredients – in an industry where clinics were getting tired of being pushed aside by companies making room for E-Commerce business, I wanted to bring back the flexibility and support that was lacking for them.

Fast forward to now, here we are. Still doing what I love and what is clearly in my blood, but…I’m doing it my way (insert Frank Sinatra).

Share with us some information or highlights of some of your favourite products from the range.

Are you kidding me? When I tell you I LOVE every single product from both ranges we have…..I’m not joking!

Let’s see if I can do this….

  • Thermoceutical EXO Regentron Serum – Exosomes & Bakuchiol Peptides.
I use this at night in replace of Vitamin A. My skin had really become thin with the overuse of retinol and this serum has the skin regeneration power like no other. Exosomes are like avatars…derived from plants they contain a complex cargo of actives that help to stimulate collagen, elastin, cell renewal and support the skins’ ability to repair itself. Bakuchiol is the latest replacement to retinol without the irritation.
  • Bioskin BSK74 Multi Vitamin Serum – our Liquid Gold in a bottle!
Vit C, E, F & proteoglycans that leave your skin feeling super moisturised and with a radiant glow that everyone comments on. It’s our #1 top selling product.
  • Bioskin BSK5 Hyaluronic Acid 3%
Hydration 3 x more powerful than any other ampoule used with skin needling. You literally can feel the hydration build up in the tissue as the skin absorbs it. I have never seen a Hyaluronic Acid work as fast as this one and the hydration results last longer than the average hydration serums (days up to weeks).
  • Thermoceutical DeAC Aciderm line
I have seen some truly amazing results while treating acne with this range. From Bakuchiol to Niacinamide, to Vitamin B6, these products work on balancing the skin’s microbiome, reducing inflammation, inhibiting 5-α Reductase and promoting skin healing.
  • Bioskin BSK8 BrightPro
A mix of Glutathione, Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin C to be used with skin needling. A vial full of actives to work on reduction, inhibition, and evening skin tone. The results can be seen within the first few treatments, brighter with more even, clearer tones.
