Indulge In The Luxury Of This New Melbourne CBD Meditation Concept

Newly launched, The Cocoon Room brings a luxurious twist on wellness retreats promoting the daily practice of meditation.

Beyond the buzzing city streets of Melbourne’s CBD you’ll find a world-first meditation and corporate wellbeing space that promises to whisk you away from the daily grind for a moment of clarity and calm. The Cocoon Room, located on Collins St, aims to create a welcome escape for those transitioning back to their big city life after a year of working from home.

Meditation is a rising trend in Australia but The Cocoon Room founder, Linda Belli, was underwhelmed with her options to practice and found nothing catered to corporate lifestyles.

“With so much discussion around the importance and benefits of practising meditation, it was surprising to learn that the offerings were limited” says Linda.

Bucking the trend of meditation circles on cold gym floors and outdated spaces that make you think of kale smoothies, the space is overflowing with the kind of luxury touches you’d expect to see in a five-star hotel. Think glistening chandeliers, plush velour sofas and jewel tones.

“We’ve created a dedicated tranquil space with great session times to help city workers incorporate meditation and downtime into their busy routines. We’re more ‘chill’ than ‘chore’ – come as you are, no Lycra required!” says Linda.

The 50-minute experience is enjoyed in two 25 minutes parts with a new session starting every half an hour. The first is spent chilling in the Mindfulness Lounge, a tech-free zone that invites you to soak in the opulent surrounds and begin your wind down. Choose from the line-up of reading materials on offer, turn your focus to a puzzle or simply sit back with a cup of tea in hand and relish doing nothing.

A private pod in the Cocoon Room

When the time comes, you’ll be moved to the Cocoon Room where you can nestle into a private pod and choose your own meditation adventure. There are guided audio experiences, signature soundtracks and relaxing nature sound-scapes to help set your headspace. It’s a chance to reconnect with yourself and enjoy a moment of clarifying isolation.

If you’re new to meditation, there’s nothing to fear. You’re invited to enjoy the experience how you choose and will find the simple meditation content is inspiring for all levels. As your time wraps up, you’ll likely be longing for more, which is why single session or membership plans have been made available, encouraging you to return without breaking the bank.

“We’ve crafted a spa-like experience without the price tag,” says Linda.

“The element of privacy with individual ‘cocoons’ and the simple meditation content is essential to encourage even the most reluctant meditators, so they too can enjoy the benefits of this ancient practice.”

Leaning into their city location, The Cocoon Collective also offers several experiences for corporate clients who want to bring a modern touch of wellbeing into their working environments. Workshops with some of the city’s most experienced and sought-after experts brings a new meaning to professional development and corporate creativity.

The rise of trailblazing wellness spaces like the Cocoon Room is pathing the path for a new corporate lifestyle and we have to say, we’re very excited.
