Private Gyms In Hotels Just Became A Thing

Hyatt has just launched a two-year pilot program of private exercise suites.

Ever wished you could have access to your very own private gym while travelling? Well, at a select number of Hyatt hotels in the United States, now you can.

Hyatt has just launched a two-year pilot program of private gym suites that can be rented by the hour at Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, Hyatt Grand Central New York, Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Hyatt Regency Dallas, and the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch.

As part of its ‘StayFit’ Private Fitness program, Hyatt has converted a collection of hotel rooms into mini-gyms featuring a variety of fitness equipment. Guests renting out the gym suites will be able to enjoy a Peloton bike, Precor treadmill, workout mats, stretch bands, foam roller, dual grip medicine balls, stability balls, and hand weights.

“We understand guests continue to seek a wide range of fitness experiences and self-care outlets while on the road. Our new StayFit Private Fitness suite delivers a well-rounded experience in a private space,” says Hyatt Regency Dallas General Manager, Michael Koffler, in a media release.

“Guests have the option of a heart-pumping cardio experience on a Peloton bike or Precor treadmill, or to take part in any strength- or floor-based exercises from the Peloton live and on-demand library, which is accessed via the Peloton bike,” continues Koffler.

Following COVID-19, a lot has changed. With a new study finding that COVID-19 may be more easily spread in gyms where people are working out and breathing harder, options to perform solo exercise in sanitary conditions may become more popular.

The research discovered that, at rest, participants breathed out about 500 aerosol particles per minute. But while exercising, that count rose 132-fold, with an average of 76,000 particles per minute during strenuous exertion.

If the StayFit Private Fitness initiative goes well during the pilot program, Hyatt may add further locations throughout the United States. It goes to show the continued rise of the wellness industry and the importance consumers place on their wellbeing.
