All You Need To Know About Vitamin E

Vitamin E can be found in a variety of skincare products, but what exactly does it do? Skincare expert Hannah Do explains:

For a lot of people, vitamin E is a great solution for so many skin issues.

It slows down signs of skin aging, moisturises dry skin, and lightens dark spots. It’s also great in protecting the skin against the sun’s harmful rays and free radical damage. It makes a great acne moisturiser, too.

In addition to those benefits, vitamin E is believed to be helpful in wound healing as well. Now, this is where things get a bit complicated.

You see, although vitamin E can help with healing, coating your skin with it while it’s still broken can cause more harm than good. Why?

Well, vitamin E lacks antimicrobial properties. This means that no matter how thick you apply it to your fresh wound, there’s no assurance that your skin will heal safely and properly. In fact, using it on fresh wound can only slow down the healing process. You might even end up with dermatitis.

Now, going back to the question. Is vitamin E really that good? Frankly, yes.

If you know when and how to use it, vitamin E can solve a lot of your skin issues. And to help you with that, here’s an infographic about using vitamin E you might find handy.
