Meet The Australian Nominees For The World Spa Awards 2020

There is still time to cast your vote and support your industry friends!

It’s almost that time of year again. Yes, the World Spa Awards are fast approaching, and although things might look a little different this year, there is an array of Aussie talent nominated for awards across the categories.

This year marks the award’s sixth annual event, and Managing Director Rebecca Cohen says she is delighted to open voting off the back of what has been a challenging year for many spas.

“The aim of the World Spa Awards has always been to serve and support our industry. We acknowledge that now, more than ever before, is the time for all of us to unite, support one another, and recognise those organisations that are leading the global recovery,” Cohen said.

The awards started as a transparent forum to set a benchmark of excellence and help foster growth in spa tourism. Among the Australian nominees include; MISS FOX Melbourne, Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat, Ritz Carlton Perth and Gaia Retreat.

While it’s unlikely they will make it out of the country to attend the ceremony at the Park Hyatt Dubai on the 26 October* (still subject to change depending on global COVID-19 status), we spoke to some of the Australian nominees on their nominations.

What category are you nominated for?
We are nominated for World’s Best Beauty Salon 2020.

What was your first thought when you found out you were nominated?
Our first thought when being nominated was wowie! Grateful to be nominated for the third year — such a welcome surprise and, might I add, a lovely distraction from the virus madness.

What makes your clinic stand out for the rest?
What makes MISS FOX Melbourne stand out is our commitment to self-care, on a mind, body and soul level. We love to make our guests look beautiful, of course! But just as important is nurturing how they feel, soothing the spirit and being kind to the mind (very necessary right now). This would be our third time winning this award, and after ten years of heart-driven service to the planet, I think our team have really earned this one (again!).

A GIF that would best describe your reaction if you won?

Probably this one.

And who would you thank in your acceptance speech?
In my acceptance speech, I would thank my incredible dream team, the Goddesses that make magic happen every day: from the management to the therapists to everyone in between, thank you TEAM FOX!

What category are you nominated for?
We are nominated for World’s Best Eco Spa and also Australia’s Best Wellness retreat.

What was your first thought when you found out you were nominated?
WOW. What an honour to be able to showcase what we do in this exceptional field.

What makes your clinic stand out for the rest?
Gwinganna’s environmental commitment has been important for the very start, so to be recognised in that area helps us show what we do. We have the largest team, the most land space and the largest spa in the Southern Hemisphere, to help us deliver a dedicated wellness experience with the added element of wellness education to help guests put this into practice when they return home.

And who would you thank in your acceptance speech?
Our guests! They are who make us do better every week. Their stories about how we help them inspire us to do what we do. Plus all the team who work hard each program to create that experience.

There are just over two weeks left to vote, with it closing on 30 September 2020. Pay some love forward and help your industry friends go for gold on an international stage.

*Also, duh, BEAUTY & SPA Insiders is on that day. Get your tickets here.
