Looking for a little reading list inspiration?

Building a business is no easy feat so a little expert guidance can go a long way. There are endless resources out there for skin professionals looking to take the next steps in their career, but where do you even start? To make things a little easier, three successful skin therapists and business owners have shared their top business book picks and let us know why they’ve found them so useful. And maybe you will too.

Kelly Noone, SkinQueen

From therapist to business builder, SkinQueen founder Kelly Noone has plenty experience in helping other skin therapists develop their marketing skills to grow their audience and their revenue and has some great book recommendations that can help.

Master Your Money by Tony Robbins

“As a business owner, I want to make money but also learn how to make that money make me money! So often talking about money is taboo and so I’ve had to find my own resources to help me and this book is one everyone should read if they want to do the same!”

Slow Ageing Guide To Skin Rejuvenation by Kate Marie and Professor Merlin Christopher

“I love this book because it covers so many topics with aging and skin rejuvenation in easy to read chapters that I can properly digest and regurgitate to my clients! There are so many great books on skin out there, but this is the perfect balance of information and top line information!”

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay

“Gosh, as therapists, we take on so much of our clients’ energy, good and bad, and we want to help and fix them all but this book gave me so much insight about human emotion, affirmations and how to set healthy boundaries in place! Louise Hay is an amazing woman,” says Kelly.

Sara Lavis, Skin Collective

Cosmetic and Emergency Nurse, Sara Lavis, is the founder of Skin Collective, a Perth-based clinic that provides innovative skin treatments. Her recommended books have a focus on education and are set to help you approach skin with a holistic view.

Gut by Giulia Enders and Dr Libby’s Women Wellness Wisdom by Dr Libby Weaver

“There are so many amazing books and podcasts that have guided me in the way I practice but two that stand out are Gut by Giulia Enders and Dr Libby’s Women Wellness Wisdom by Dr Libby Weaver. Both raising the question, what is your body trying to tell you?,” says Sara.

“To understand the outside, it’s imperative that you understand the inside. The skin is just another organ and it’s important to be treated that way for long lasting results. For example, cracks at the corners of the mouth can be due to B vitamin deficiencies, iron deficiencies or both! This is why Skin Collective has a holistic view of treating skin concerns.

“It’s important to keep inquisitive and build your knowledge in the area of skin health and wellness because I’ve learnt that the more I’ve got to understand our organs, the better practitioner I have become for my clients.”

Isabella Loneragan, The Dermal Diary

Isabella Loneragan is the founder of The Dermal Diary and has more than 10 years of experience in the industry. Isabella has also created The Private Collection, a range of cinical skincare products, so it’s safe to say she has a lot of experience leading a team and building a business and there’s one book that’s stood out for her.

Winging It by Emma Issacs

“I found Emma Isaacs’ book a great wake-up call around not overthinking things. Running a business is so hard, and we often get so caught up in the details, especially launching new ideas and products, but her advice to just get on with it, ‘wing it’ with the goal being fixing the problems later was just what I needed to hear! (She’s also an insane example of #mumgoals, and being a new mother myself, it’s fascinating to watch her!)” shares Isabella.
