Setting The Standard: ABIC Defines Menopause Aesthetics As A Formal Practice Area

The Aesthetic and Beauty Industry Council (ABIC) unveils Australia’s first Menopause Aesthetics Division, complete with a national code of conduct, treatment guidelines, and professional certification.

In a landmark move for the industry, the Aesthetic and Beauty Industry Council (ABIC) has launched Australia’s first Menopause Aesthetics Division, a new initiative set to define and lead this rapidly emerging area of practice. Coined and created by ABIC, Menopause Aesthetics is now officially recognised as a dedicated field focused on delivering ethical, evidence-based aesthetic care to women navigating hormonal changes.

This Division marks a significant step forward in raising the standard of support available to clients in the menopause phase. By introducing Australia’s first national framework of guidelines, ABIC aims to set the benchmark for how services are delivered, communicated, and taught within this space.

At the heart of the Division is the newly established Menopause Aesthetics Committee, a collective of experienced professionals across dermal therapy, cosmetic nursing, aesthetic medicine, education, allied health, and consumer advocacy. The Committee will be responsible for shaping the future of this field through:

  • A Code of Conduct for advertising and promotion
  • Best practice consultation and treatment guidelines
  • Endorsed education pathways for practitioners
  • A national certification for menopause aesthetics clinics and professionals

This initiative is part of ABIC’s broader mission to champion transparency, professionalism, and self-regulation across the industry.

“As an emerging sector in Australia, aesthetic support for women during menopause is largely unstructured, and often promoted without qualification, scientific rigour, or accountability,” says Stefanie Milla, CEO and Founding Director of ABIC. “With the launch of this Division, we are creating something enduring, a trusted, self-regulated space where ethics, safety, and client care are prioritised at every level.”

Expressions of interest are now open for senior professionals to join the Menopause Aesthetics Committee. ABIC welcomes applications from qualified doctors, nurses, dermal clinicians, educators, and allied health or wellness experts with a demonstrated background in menopause-related care.
